This textbook has twelve chapters
that integrate the five core standards
for mathematics teaching in Puerto
Rico: counting and operations,
algebra, geometry, measurement,
and data and probability analysis. The
book sections and their objectives are
presented below.
Each chapter has a double-page
spread of activities for students to
test how much they can remember,
and to determine the extent of their
knowledge of mathematical topics
to be worked on in coming lessons.
It is important for students to know
that they are not expected to get all
the answers right, as this activity is
designed to give the teacher tools
to be able to decide where to start
the presentation; it also gives the
teacher a reference for quantifying
students’ progress as they move
foward with the conceptualization
and practice of the topics in question.
